In spring and autumn in the depths of the Scottish countryside it is possible to see in the still of the night the most amazing light show. The aurora borealis or ' heavenly dancers' as they are known are mesmerizing and so beautiful. I have painted them or at least tried to capture some of their beauty many times. They change constantly and are gone in a moment. The fluidity and transparency of watercolour means that the results are often unexpected, the shimmering shades of green and turquoise reflected in the water hopefully convey some of their beauty.
This watercolour is sold with a mount and backboard and is painted on 300gm Fabriano Artistico watercolour paper with Winsor Newton professional watercolours.
