An homage to the famous mathematician and master code breaker of Bletchley Park Alan Turing.
The portrait has been painted onto a hand stretched and triple primed canvas measuring 40 x 50 cm, using professional artists grade acrylic paint and grounds to give a unique surface texture.
My trademark bright pastel colours and strong bold lines combine to produce a one of a kind portrait of one of my all time heroes and one of Britain's finest minds. I have long been fascinated by the life and work of Alan Turing and painted his portrait to celebrate his connection with Manchester, my home town.
Alan Turing was a pioneering British computer scientist, mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst and theoretical biologist. He was highly influential in the development of theoretical computer science, providing a formalisation of the concepts of algorithm and computation with the Turing machine, which can be considered a model of a general purpose computer. He is widely considered to be the father of theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence.
In 1948 Turing joined the University of Manchester, where he helped develop the Manchester computers project which built some of the worlds first computers.
