There is just something about flying swans - so majestic.
I have made this collage on old vintage French white linen. The sky and the sea is made up of different textiles in different textures so some wool, some lace and other fabrics to give it a really nice depth. Each piece has been individually stitched on and I have also machine stitched lines in matching colours for even more texture to the background aswell as some hand embroidery. The swans are made of linen too and they are stitched on with lots of black thread to make them "pop out" of the background. Before I stitched on the swans I used gouache to create a grey sky background to make the swans stand out even more.
The collage is backed with a heavy cream cotton fabric and has a channel at the top so that it can hang from a decorative dowel or curtain pole. It is ready to hang or it can be framed.
I have embroidered the collage title and my signature on the front of the collage.
