During the winter of 2013/14 Somerset experienced some serious and devastating floods. Miles of low-lying land was submerged and many hundreds of properties damaged. The floods also provided some darkly, unsettling scenes of natural beauty, and an unusual view of once green farmland bright with the reflection of the sky. In this painting I focus on a Somerset village, some feet above the water, the church silhouetted during a rare break in the cloud. Many light layers of wash and occasional dry brush create this monochromatic and tranquil scene.
All paintings are wrapped and packed in robust card and posted
