Original artwork description:
Oil on canvas: rendition of a lily pond. Against the deep olives and slivers of silvery jade are brilliant yellows and flaming reds, symbolising the experience of a heart catching fire, of both the still waters of love and the arousal of spirit. The underlayers of oil paint have been split to form a lace work of detail (especially in the lower right hand corner) and two impasto almost unseen carp swim by. The lilies have been painted with naive brush work, which adds to the loose and open quality of the work.
