Original artwork description:

For me, these shades of blues and greens bring peace, calm and lift my spirit. They’re the colours I surround myself with when I need to create a feeling of lightheartedness to counteract whatever daily business might be weighing me down. Still, a little bit of seriousness is a good thing so I needed the deep brown shape to bring balance to this image. I also wanted to make the composition lively, so I used the deep orange stripe and the ever-so-slightly cheeky red element to bring in some vitality to the work. All together, the dynamic movement of the shapes and the combinations of the colours create a light, positive feeling and even give a bit of extra energy, just when we need it!

I think of my collages more as drawings because that’s how they begin. I draw with oil sticks, pastels and pencils on large sheets and then cut them down into various shapes which I recombine into new colour compositions. I don’t try to ‘make’ the shapes, but rather just start cutting and see what happens. The images are intuitive; they reflect my emotions and desires or are inspired by something in my surroundings.

Ultimately, what I’m after are the most stunningly beautiful, luminous, delicious colour combinations. I want to put colours together that fill your eyes with light; draw luscious, organic lines that make your mouth water, and create perfectly balanced compositions that feel like a light summer breeze flowing by.

I'm happy to also ship this artwork ready to hang in a simple white-glazed wooden frame. Frame costs 60 Euros. Shipping of framed work at no additional cost to standard shipping rate.
