A work sadly inspired by the invasion of Ukraine, and the frustration of how we got to this place.

I have used my portraiture skills to show some of the manipulators and the manipulated who got us to that point. Money symbols depict a driving force of self enrichment for many of them, and some of the devastation they've caused is shown. It is by no means an exhaustive selection, just some of the people and incidents that stood out to me.

It is created soon after the invasion and is reflective of a moment in time.

It is entitled 2002 (1) as I may do another similar work in the year, when I'm hoping I can add some more positive representations - unfortunately at the moment, most positives are also tinged by negatives.

Charcoal, chalk and sanguine used on 450g linen, stretched on frame.

Am happy to donate half of my proceeds of the sale of this work (materials & commission deducted) to one of the Ukraine supporting charities.
