"In sweet collision, 2 seas join, would that I were one, you the other."
A Haiku sent to me by a friend, was a strong inspirational force in creating this linocut, I have been working on this image for a while, trying to get it perfect.... there are only 9 prints, and they are all slightly different, some are quite different, so I have made life difficult for myself, but fun for you, more original. The image in the photo is the one I send, no 4 of 9.
A linocut reduction, means that as I print the 5 different colors, I cut away areas on the lino plate so when I am finished I can't use it again, to print this image. I printed this linocut, in a couple of variations, and with ink management, which sounds very professional, don't you think ;o) what it means, is that with years of being a lino artist, I can very much determine how much ink I deposit on the linoplate with my roller. I love, when the inks are thinly applied so you see the layering of the inks, it gives life, texture and emotion to the print, which in this image was of great importance to me. This does mean that each print have variations, in the very short edition of 9 prints.
