"Road less travelled, 2015" by Sarang Bhand

“I shot this image at early winter morning at Bharatpur bird sanctuary and wanted to capture the mist in the morning, hence I played with a wide aperture. The shallow depth of field gives a dreamy feel to the image.”

"Fading Rape Fields, Fading Day, 2016" by Jenny Wilson

“This was one of those evenings when the sky is all you need - when all you need to do is "be". End of May, about 9 pm, peach skies, mist rising on the horizon and the smell of the last Rape fields in the crisp air. How could you not capture it...”

"Expectations, 2015" by Saskia Huitema

“This painting captures the tender stage of a young girl on the verge of womanhood, her innocence, wonder and expectations as she awaits, and looks towards, the future. This painting is inspired by my daughter growing up. The particular posture I chose to paint struck me as being special in some way, exposing a vulnerability and elegance which touched me.”

"Burning Memories (120 x 80cm), 2015" by Ansgar Dressler

“In this classic pallet-knife painting in acrylics I combine the cold tones of grey in all shades between black and white with the colors of fire and heat, creating a dynamic of fire moving across the canvas from left to right, leaving behind scenes in ashes. A cleaning fire burning unwanted memories. This is Burning Memories.”

"Sleepy harbour, 2016" by Lana Frey

“Emotions surround us all the time - not just those of people. Emotions are everywhere and they give me all I needed to capture them on canvas. There's always a calm just before a storm. Before a wind would strike from under the darkening clouds a fading twilight and soft air can be mistaken for a peaceful lullaby. Water, while reflecting a piercing sunset, is almost motionless. But the storm is coming. You can clearly feel it just by listening to the silence.”

"Summer patio, 2012" by Krystyna Szczepanowski

“This was a scene I saw from a window in Portugal while on holiday. The contrast of the silver metal watering can, the rusty table and the warm colours of the floor tiles made this a scene that had to be painted. I challenged myself to see if I was capable of painting that table with all the metalwork and the rust; a challenge I took to gladly and which gave me a lot of pleasure during the execution. This piece always reminds me of warm, lazy summer afternoons.”

"Somnolent, 2016" by Justas Lauzadis

“I enjoy giving my paintings complicated titles which represent the painting in one phrase. In this sense Somnolent breaks the mould. This painting took me upwards of 12 hours and Somnolent expresses that feeling of being tired! The image in this painting I feel gives off a strong sense of euphoria or that of going into a deep sleep...”
