"Martina Furlong, Over The Hill And Far Away, 2013" by Martina Furlong

“This is a mostly imaginary scene painted using sketches of Irish landscapes as a starting point. I painted it using rollers, pallet knives, scrapers, cloths and twigs as well as brushes to add texture and work back into the surface.” - Martina Furlong.

"Alice Neave, Sails on Fire, 2013" by Alice Neave

Alice Neave is an abstract artist painting stunning oil on canvas artworks. “A vibrant palette is important to me; I experiment in oil and photography to help me to achieve the best results. I try to capture the subtle and indeed unsubtle hues and shades of the world we live in.” “It is the paint itself that has a superior precedence in my artistic process. Scraping, layering and dripping the thick and viscose pigment over the canvas is something that will continue to fascinate me for a while to come.” - Alice Neave.

"Jill Griffin, The Tree Graces, 2013" by Jill Griffin

“I love to ‘hide’ things in my work, or include the unexpected, whether it is tennis balls as lemons in my Wimbldon tree or secret messages and symbols. This painting is from a series called ‘Surprises’, which has characters hidden in the trunks of trees. This one represents fertility, with colourful ripe pomegranates and the ‘Graces’ celebrating their form, just waiting to capture their mates with a satin ribbon. Originally the series was inspired by the sculpture of Rodin, particularly his work ‘Eternal Spring’, which sweeps me away each time I see it.” - Jill Griffin.

"Jonathan Woodall, Shifting Sands, 2012" by Jonathan Woodall

“To create this bold, bright painting I first laid out the shapes by sketching them quickly, and once happy with the form I painted the areas before outlining them in black. Finally, I finished the piece off with the the movement of splashes and swoops.” - Jonathan Woodall.

"Stephanie Noble, Opium Ceremony 1, 2012" by Stephanie Noble

“As part of our tour of Rajasthan, we were invited to a small village where we could watch and take part in an Opium ceremony, a very traditional ceremony practised on a regular basis. This guy was re-wrapping his turban before the ceremony started and it was a really simple moment, but also wrapped up in its own mini ceremony. Plus, I just loved the blue walls against his orange turban.” - Stephanie Noble.

"Stephen Todd, Burn Out (Margate Sunset)" by Stephen Todd

“This painting is placed in Margate. I paint places where I have an emotional connection and can explore ideas from personal history to classical references to the process of painting itself. JMW Turner’s connection to Margate is a specific interest. Structura is a paste applied to the surface of the paper to provide some texture as part of the painting process.” - Stephen Todd.

"Lil Nutter, Solent Reflections, 2013" by Lil Nutter

“This painting shows the sunset across the Solent with the towers of industry on the horizon. Initially the idea came when a friend sent me a photograph taken from her window - the reflections in the glass were very graphic and beautiful. I hope I've done it justice.” - Lil Nutter
