"Edo Zollo , going up, 2013" by Edo Zollo

“Photography for me is tool that I use to communicate my feelings and how I live my life. This photo is called “Going Up” and its about my struggle in life, I come from a difficult background and for long time I felt lost, no directions. Yet, people seem to like my photos and that opened a new life. I started to travel, to meet new people, been commissioned and appreciated for something good. It’s all about going up, not matter where you are coming from, don’t give up, fulfil your passions and be true to yourself.” - Edo Zollo

"Lórien Eck, Water I, 2013" by Lórien Eck

“My inspiration for this painting is the element of water. Water "in-spirits" me, inspires me to create, to feel, to allow my spirit to BE. Growing up near the ocean and the fact that seashores have always been a very healing, cooling and nourishing place for me to BE. Embracing fluidity and stillness in my life process, resting in vulnerability and surrender allowing old thought/feeling patterns to bubble up and dissolve. Water is the sustainer of life as it feeds our infinite wellspring of joy and happiness and allows the flow for us all to thrive.” - Lórien Eck

"Max Gregor, "Persavernce"" by Max Gregor

“This was inspired by a period in my life where i really felt on shaky ground both personally and with my career. I wanted to create an image which both represented my resolve to "persevere" with what I was doing and my own insecurity with it at the same time. The butterflies are a symbol of panic and hope in that the girl is both fractured but also flying upward. The Skulls and flowers also reflect the duality of persevering with something in that it can either die a death or blossom to something beautiful.” - Max Gregor

"Carolina Salazar, To Fall Like Petals, 2013" by Carolina Salazar

“‘To Fall Like Petals’, is the most recent work I’ve completed. My mother being an avid gardener instilled an appreciation for nature, plants and flowers at an early age. Growing up in South Florida I have experienced my share of hurricanes, storms and tropical rains. My current body of work is inspired by acts of nature, how it affects our landscape and its continuous ability to adapt and change at a moments notice. My panel pieces largely include elements of the outdoors such as leaves, flowers, branches, weeds and decorative patterns. I often work small to invite intimacy and closeness with the work.” - Carolina Salazar

"Mary Stubberfield, The Village on the Hill, 2013" by Mary Stubberfield

“I was inspired to paint The Village on the Hill after visiting the village of Saint Paul-de-vence while staying in Nice recently. I wanted to see a typical Village Perche and also where Marc Chagall, who has always inspired me, was buried. I tried to keep the palette of colours warm and make the buildings really stand out against the background. The narrow winding streets are wonderful to sketch and explore, with paintable scenes around every corner. In this artwork I wanted to capture the village as a whole, while conveying the background of the Mediterranean Sea.” - Mary Stubberfield

"Paula Oakley, The Bulldog Blues, 2013" by Paula Oakley

“A single bottle of beer inspired the creative thought that resulted in this painting. A picture of a British Bulldog on a good bottle of beer. It made me think of the old saying "Bulldog spirit". Staying strong when life gets tough. The times when you feel down and blue, times when you can escape the world with a good pint and a good tune. Strumming on the guitar, pouring your heart out in the privacy of your room. Tomorrow will be a better day, but for now you will compose "The Bulldog Blues".” - Paula Oakley

"Morgan Starr, Setting Myself To Rights 2, 2012" by Morgan Starr

“This body of work is concerned with discovering myself, growing into an adult, healing myself from any self-consciousness I have gained through my childhood and into my adult life. I want to express myself, to put myself out there and say to people “No, this is me, this is what I am, I will not be dictated to. I will not be made to feel self conscious because you’re too scared to express yourself.” What happened to this freedom? This innocence? Is it stripped from me through years of bullying and being taught how to be an adult. The shoots are about growing as a person, becoming more in touch with who I am and not how I should act.” - Morgan Starr Save 15% on Artfinder this weekend with code 'endofsummer15' (min spend £400) or 10% with code 'endofsummer10' (min spend £200) - codes expire at midnight 22 September (GMT).

"Leticia Stryker, THREE PELICANS IN FLIGHT, 2012" by Leticia Stryker

“I was visiting some friends in Southern Oregon and wanted to spend an afternoon taking photos in the area. My friend suggested we drive out to the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge. Established in 1908, the 206.04 km2 wildlife preserve is made up of marshes, open water and grassy uplands. We arrived at the refuge just in time for a hailstorm. I was slightly disappointed, but decided to stick it out and see if the weather would clear. A short time later it did pass, leaving only stillness and dramatic cloud formations behind. The soft light and the misty veil on the horizon were beautiful. The air was refreshed and calm. There were countless species of birds all around, emerging from where ever they had taken shelter. We pulled over and I started walking down a deserted road beside marshy area of water. Just ahead, I spotted three pelicans lazily floating in the water. I wanted to position myself just parallel to them so as to capture the birds, water, grass and sky in all in the composition. As I moved closer, they started swimming farther down the waterway. I was so close… I just needed to get a little farther up the road beside them. I quickened my steps and they likewise quickened their paddling. I started jogging and they swam even faster. The race was on! I broke in a full sprint with camera up and ready to shoot. As I reached just the right spot, everything happened quickly and simultaneously - all three pelicans took flight and I pressed the shutter button, click – click–click, just as I felt a shockingly large pile of bird excrement squish beneath my foot. I walked back to car, absently trying to wipe huge mess off my shoe while I excitedly looked through the images on the back of my camera. Although I did have to ride back to the house barefoot and later spend a good deal of time hosing my shoe off, it was all worth it. I had gotten the shot!” - Leticia Stryker AWARDS : 1st place in the 2011 Oregon Wild Photo Contest in the Endangered Places category. "Emma Saul, The Stillest Moment, 2012" by Emma Saul

“Many of my paintings’ titles come from haiku poetry, either traditional poems or haikus that I have thought of as I’m painting. There’s something about the simplicity of these poems that bring something to the way I look at the paintings. “Where land meets sky A distant point unreachable The stillest moment.” This large scale oil on canvas is inspired by that moment as the sun rises when the boundaries between land and sky are blurred and everything is infused with that lovely warm light. Warm tones, large sky, and textured landscape, built up with a range of materials and oil paint. I am inspired not by specific places but by half memories of moments in landscapes. They are nowhere but may be somewhere to someone.” - Emma Saul Save 15% this weekend on Artfinder with code 'endofsummer15' (minimum spend £400) or 10% with code 'endofsummer10' (minimum spend £200).
