Updates from Sherry Edmondson's studio

    New Studio

Over the past months I have been very occupied with planning for a new larger studio. Now finally it is only a matter of days before work begins to clear the old studio away and the new improved one begins construction. Unfortunate it is taking place over the Christmas , New Year period as it might cause some disruption to the fitting out. It will be lovely when it is finished I will have gained more light , headroom , space. painting storage is elsewhere in the house.

    25 November 2020

Owning to the virus the sketching trips I was intending to make as research for paintings is temporarily on hold instead I have begun "Sherry at Home" paintings based in and around the garden, home and what I can see from the window. I shall work in a variety of media depending on the subject, for instance some images of shoes in watercolour mixed media and other experiments with acrylics and oil sticks that were recently purchased. Rather than being a time of despair it could work out to be highly productive, sometimes if one's opportunities are defined and limited it makes one more inventive with what is available. Subject matter may cause a radical change of style. First of the At Home Paintings is The Majolica vase drawn in charcoal on a burnt Sienna ground, and after the first days work roughly defining the leaves to enable the background to be chosen and begun.

final preparations for Hampshire Open Studios. Great efforts over the preceeding weeks had been made to clear the garage of unwanted stuff! All that remains is the transformation to be made, and park the car on the drive. Sept. 2, 2018 Sept. 4, 2018

    putting the screens up

All the distracting items hanging on the garage walls were covered with dust sheets and the screens erected with a lot help from my partner.

    Gallery visitors on Sunday

This is Sunday, an awful day it poured with rain, surprisingly busy at times the garage was so crowded it felt like a party! Taking part in Hampshire Open Studios was an interesting experence, I havn't decided if I will do it again next year or take part bi-annually.

    organising the paintings

It took ages to get down paintings from the storage loft and sort out where they were going to be hung and what paintings would have to be put back in the loft.
