    I always wonder if anyone looks at 'me at work'. anyhow..... I haven't been in the studio for some time. Unfortunately my partner has been ill and sadly died. Last week I tided the studio finished a painting on the easel and have been out sketching. I am ready to paint again. It's what my lovely Brian would expect me to do . .

    Studio Drying Wall

    Some recent paintings on the studio wall. Oil paintings take a bit of time to dry before they can be put away into the racks. When they go away I feel a sense of loss. The paintings have been there for a couple of weeks and I see them every day and they become like old friends, but they have to go to make way for new work.

    I have been very busy with local exhibitions. Last weekend (August Bank Holiday) I joined a group of friends for an Open Studio exhibition held at a local village community hall . Two paintings went off to new homes and there is a possibility of two commissions to Follow. I have just heard that 3 of my paintings have been selected to join an exhibition of Local artists in Newbury this month. frame making and painting activity has been intense!. It has been challenging to create some new paintings ! Now we have switched from Summer to Autumn a change of colour pallet follows in my artwork

    West Berkshire & North Hampshire Open Studios

    May has been very busy with open studios, my studio has been open each weekend in May, quite a few visitors have dropped in to keep me entertained. The coming weekend will be the last until next year! There is a group exhibition at a local art centre The Base Greenham Common near Newbury, one of my paintings has been sold which is jolly nice. It will be a relief to pack the paintings in the studio up for storage in the racks and return the wall to hanging drying paintings drying

    Painting frames

    I am very busy painting frames and sorting paintings for the rapidly approaching Contemporary Art Fair held in the stand at Newbury Racecourse in April. The Fair is held over three days April 22-24. It will be an adventure as this will be my first art fair.

    Installing hanging system in New Studio.

    My lovely partner Installing a 2m. length of a hanging system on the empty wall space in the studio. Really useful for hanging work on, it stops me creating a forest of picture hooks! Lots of light in the new studio, good photos on days without sun or too many shadows. tempting to leave paintings on the wall but good place to hang them until photo'd tagged and prepared to go into the racks.

    Work on New Studio continues

    Work on New Studio continues

    Replacing studio even a wooden building takes time. Today work on fitting out was supposed to start, but there has been a slight holdup as carpenter has van trouble! However flooring is coming this P.M and carpenter will be able to start tomorrow. It's a bit frustrating as I am desperate to get back in the studio, trying to do anything with all my materials scattered about has not been worth considering. I have done some sketching and made endless notes and colour descriptions of sky and bare winter trees.
