    Exhibition December 2016

    Throughout December 2016 I have a mini exhibition of my work in St Mary's Church, Shrewsbury, UK. This is my home town and it's wonderful to see some of my work out in the public domain. If you are local to the area do stop by - the exhibition is right next to the wonderful church cafe. And if this isn't enough to satiate your creative appetite then there are the world famous stained glass windows to gaze at!

    I'm delighted to learn that my painting 'Just a Moment' was among the winning entries in the Muted Colour competition run by Artfinder/Liquitex in November 2016. And the best prize any painter could have - more paints to experiment with!

    NEW BEGINNINGS

    NEW BEGINNINGS

    I had no idea when I picked up a palette knife for the first time in January 2014 that I would also be picking up my passion. I recall looking at the plump new tubes of paint, the immaculate brushes and the box of small canvases and thinking they’d never be used more than a couple of times. Inspired by time spent in SW France I completed my first painting with a palette knife before venturing into the world of round, flat, rigger and fan brushes; I became curious about the possibilities of this new found activity. Self-taught I work mainly in oil. I exhibit in Shropshire where I live and am an active member of the Shropshire Art Society. May 8, 2016

    One of the things I find most difficult about still life is the setting up. So much to consider - subject matter, composition, shapes, shadows, light, colours and eyeline. It either works or it doesn't!
