    NEW STUDIO!

A recent house move has enabled me to have a wonderful, large studio and storage space. It's been so exciting to get this set up and start work here. Just need to paint over the wallpaper - I don't dislike it but it's a little distracting and photobombs every picture I take 😆

I was delighted to be invited to exhibit at this prestigious exhibition for my third year. Paintings, prints and sculpture from artists across the UK in a beautifully curated exhibition and presented in the wonderful surroundings of the Great Hall at Ellesmere College. I chose to exhibit four of my mixed media works from a collection about the impact of the World Wars on home life.

    WRITING MY BLOG

    WRITING MY BLOG

In addition to painting, I also love to write. I have a blog called RHYMES & REASONS which is reflections, thoughts and observations on 21st century life. Sometimes I write poems and on occasion these can provide inspiration for a painting. Most recently I wrote about the work of French abstract expressionist painter Jean-Humbert Savoldelli and I was delighted to learn that it won the first prize in ARTFINDER'S first blog for artists competition. Finishing Touches

    Finishing Touches

I love the varnishing stage. It means I am finally happy with the painting and no more changes will be made to it! I use high quality Gamvar gloss varnish. This helps to make the colours 'sing' but without having too much of a sheen and also helps to protect the paint.

    Mirror Collection

    Mirror Collection

I'm currently working on a collection of oil paintings exploring the subject of mirrors and reflections. The idea stems from a poem I wrote: ' Are you future or laden past, joy anew or shadow cast? Reflections glimpsed as midnight creeps for which my mirror gently weeps? '
