🏵️ Imagining Life on Distant Planets

Whenever I read about newly discovered planets that might support life, I immediately start imagining what plants on those distant worlds could look like. My diptych «Alien Flora» became an artistic reflection of that idea: something mysterious, unfamiliar, and full of imagination. I chose a bold combination of yellow and purple because these colors feel energetic, cosmic, and slightly otherworldly together. For me, this artwork captures the feeling of standing inside a фантазийный garden filled with sunlight, life, and the excitement of exploring unknown worlds.

🌿 Why Lace Became Part of My Artistic Language

🌿 Why Lace Became Part of My Artistic Language

Crocheting has always felt deeply personal and calming to me, almost like a form of meditation. Lace carries warmth, familiarity, and memories connected to home and generations past, which is why I became interested in bringing handmade cotton lace into contemporary art. I love the contrast between delicate handcrafted lace and modern mixed media techniques. At the same time, my interest in botanical forms and natural structures played an important role in this process. Nature is full of repeating rhythms and patterns, from leaves and petals to microscopic systems invisible to the eye. Lace naturally reflects these ideas through its own rhythm, repetition, and structure. By combining lace with painting and collage, I found a way to connect the visible beauty of plants with the hidden architecture that exists beneath the surface 🌿

🌫️ The Quiet Mood of Grey

🌫️ The Quiet Mood of Grey

What color captures the feeling of fog better than grey? To me, grey is one of the most versatile and comforting colors. It doesn’t demand attention or overwhelm the space, it simply creates a calm, neutral atmosphere that feels soft and grounding. In «Foggy Tropics», I used these qualities to build a peaceful, dreamy mood. At the same time, I added touches of lemon yellow and orange for contrast and warmth. Hand-crocheted white lace leaves made from cotton thread brought an airy, almost magical feeling to the composition. The final result feels calm, cocooning, and slightly fairytale-like.

🤎 Exploring the Depth of One Color

🤎 Exploring the Depth of One Color

This diptych, «Lace Dreamscape», feels very special to me. It was created entirely within shades of brown, without introducing contrasting or accent colors. I deliberately challenged myself with a question: would the artwork still feel expressive and engaging if built around just one color family? I wondered whether I would eventually want to add brighter nuances during the process… but surprisingly, I never did. Instead, the piece developed through subtle variations of natural earthy tones: terracotta, clay, ochre, and sienna. The more I worked on it, the more I realized how rich and atmospheric a restrained palette can become. It’s the kind of artwork that invites slow looking and quiet contemplation.

    🧡🤎Triptych «COZY OASIS» in Progress

A behind-the-scenes look at how this earthy-toned triptych begins to take shape. I start by creating textured surfaces with fluid oil paint, then introduce hand-crocheted lace and continue building the composition with acrylic. Step by step, the layers come together, forming a rich, tactile piece.

🎨 When the Painting Changes Direction

🎨 When the Painting Changes Direction

Sometimes the process takes an unexpected turn. At first, I planned to create a bold, high-contrast triptych in blue and red tones. But as I worked, something felt off, the background was too intense, almost overwhelming to the eye. So I decided to soften it by toning the red down with a layer of pale blue. And that’s when everything came together. The elements started to connect, the composition began to breathe. In the end, the piece transformed into a harmonious set of three paintings in a blue palette, with subtle lemon accents adding a gentle spark.

🌅 Softening the Energy of Red

🌅 Softening the Energy of Red

Red has always felt like a very powerful and emotionally intense color to me, capable of expressing both warmth and explosive energy at the same time. In this diptych, I wanted to soften and balance that energy by combining red with cool blue tones and delicate touches of pink. The result became «Sunset Oasis», a floral diptych inspired by flowers glowing in gentle sunset light. For me, this work is also a reminder that strong energy can always be transformed into something peaceful and beautiful.

    🌿 Calm Colors, Living Textures

    🌿 Calm Colors, Living Textures

Working in blue-green tones always brings a sense of calm and balance. Here I continue developing the collage, intuitively painting over and refining the forms. Every detail is created by hand, from the first layer to the final touches, making each artwork truly original.

    🦋 Imagined LACE Butterflies

    🦋 Imagined LACE Butterflies

I create butterflies that don’t exist in nature, it gives me more freedom and opens up interesting creative challenges. Each one is designed with its own color palette, wing pattern, and mood. Some are vibrant and high-contrast, others are calm and meditative, built within subtle variations of a single color. In my work, I combine hand-crocheted lace with acrylic painting, turning each butterfly into a tactile, expressive piece with its own character.

🌫️ Seeing the Tropics in a Softer Way

🌫️ Seeing the Tropics in a Softer Way

This triptych reflects my vision of a quieter, more atmospheric side of the tropics. We often imagine tropical nature as bright sunlight, lush greenery, and vivid contrasts. But rain, mist, and evening shadows can completely transform that feeling, making the landscape softer, calmer, and more mysterious. That’s why I chose a restrained palette of earthy ochre-brown and gentle grey tones. The title, «Calm Tropics», captures this peaceful mood perfectly. I love exploring different emotional states of nature through color and texture. And seeing the artworks placed into interiors always feels like the final chapter, when the paintings truly begin to live within a space!

    🧵 How «Lace Garden» Came to Life

    🧵 How «Lace Garden» Came to Life

I named this artwork «Lace Garden» because it was my first experiment using hand-crocheted cotton lace as part of the artistic medium itself 😄 At first, I wasn’t sure how to integrate the lace naturally into the composition, but the technical process turned out easier than expected, just very detailed and time-consuming. The real challenge was combining textured collage, lace, and paint into one harmonious visual language. Gradually, the piece began to resemble delicate fantasy plants and ornamental grasses growing in an imaginary garden 🌿 This work became an important turning point in my artistic process, and I’m truly happy with the result 💛

    💜 Dreaming of Otherworldly Gardens

    💜 Dreaming of Otherworldly Gardens

I’ve always loved imagining things beyond our understanding, especially what plants on distant planets might look like. For my diptych «Galaxy Garden», I chose layered purple tones because this color reminds me of galaxies, cosmic energy, and the mystery of space 🌌 Purple also feels deeply symbolic to me, connected with intuition, spirituality, and inner harmony. Perhaps this imagined garden carries a little of that energy too 💫 I truly enjoy exploring the connection between art, color, symbolism, and fantasy.
