    Water by the Thames

    If you are near London's Southbank sometime between now and late October, take a break at the lovely Bankside Hotel and see the Nature's Imprint Exhibition. There are artworks by seven artists. Described by Fuse Magazine as "a must-see for anyone interested in the intersection of nature, sustainability, and artistic expression". It seems appropriate that my paintings of water are this close to the Thames.

    When I go sockless in the studio! Love it! Because I work on the floor, I tend to get covered in paint. Being in bare feet gives me more of a sense of freedom somehow.

    Magic in Nature

    I've always been fascinated by shapes in nature - stripes on a zebra, shapes of snowflakes, waves in the ocean and so I love reading Ian Stewart's 'What Shape is a Snow Flake?' ⁠ ⁠ "These and other natural patterns have been recognized by scientists for centuries. What do they have in common? They can all be accounted for mathematically.⁠ Patterns can embrace chaos, fractals, dislocations, even statistical regularities, and are found in many things that at first seem irregular or featureless."⁠ ⁠ But, at the end of the day it is all still magic in my mind! ⁠

    Coming across this Bruce Lee quote years ago was hugely influential. I remember it was the first time I really thought about the philosophical side of water and started to make it my mission to understand the connections better. I guess that was the start of the fascination/obsession with water!
