This is a Christmas present for my niece’s son who is interested in trying water colour media, and also butterflies. I liked that the background is painted and this I hope will make him understand that you can build up your picture gradually, I hope!

Christine Oh what a great idea. I think it is a good plan to look at other artists work for inspiration. Nothing wrong with that. So delighted with Julia’s lovely painting. The picture is of a walk in the Lake District my family have done many times. Julia’s depiction is very pretty and evocative. I thought the photo was lovely but the real painting is so much more. I love the use of colour, especially the tree leaves and the stone wall detail. I really feel drawn into the painting and felt a bit emotional on unwrapping. It arrived within a couple of days and was in excellent condition having been protectively packaged and with a white card border. It is currently with the framers and I cannot wait to see it hung on the wall to remind me of such happy times at the location. I would definitely recommend Julia’s work.
