    Studio - Creativity In-Progress

    Studio - Creativity In-Progress

I have taken over what is supposed to be the formal dining room in our house. Yet, I call it my studio. I once heard an artist say, whereever you do your creative work, call it your studio...even if it's your kitchen table. :) You can see that my studio is quite cluttered right now. I have several projects in progress and I have been filming some of my process. My walls are covered with inspiration, but, the window may be my favorite thing! The natural light filtering in, the singing birds, the beautiful skies make me smile. I just finished the painting on the easel this morning. It's called Reflections on the Water.

    Process and Consequences

    Process and Consequences

I often don't know where a painting will end up at the beginning. In the case of the flowers, I was planning to eventually have flowers, but I never expected the other consequences. I have been working on these abstract flowers for a few days. I started with a blue background, and started adding drips. I made layers and layers of drips - blues, violet, teal, white, and black. Yesterday, I found the flowers by negative shape painting (there has got to be a better name for that...or we need to make one up!). I used a really dark blue-black for the background, but the flowers didn't pop like i wanted them to. Today, I lightened the background with off-white and a hint of yellow. I LOVED the effect. I loved it so much that i took that same color and made another, totally different, painting...the ocean. :P. Those are the kind of consequences I'm hoping for! #art #artistsofinstagram #artforsale #beautifullandscape #contemporaryart @artfinder_com
