About Imo Crossland

  • Biography
My work is inspired by the life going on beneath our noses, and moments of overlooked connection and joy. I am constantly absorbing the world around me, observing moments between people, and digesting beauty, shape and colour, then translating all this into imagery.

My outcomes are a visually bold and colourful fusion between real life and my imagination. Eternalising moments of joy through my art feels dream-like and somewhat cathartic for me. In times of anxieties, my process has transported me closer to human connection, an escapism of sorts.

Through my current practise, I am searching for the sweet spot between the digital and the analogue. My multimedia approach is playful and intuitive, I have fun with my process and I hope this comes across in the work. I am constantly collecting and working with new materials and papers in an effort to make digital work that feels tactile and tangible. Texture and gestural mark making is very important in my creative process, I want to make work that people want to touch. I am trying to find a space for the analogue in our ever-increasing digital world.
