  • 'Tokyo Rain' - Original painting on canvas

'Tokyo Rain' - Original painting on canvas

'Tokyo Rain' - Original acrylic and spray paint on canvas - 60 x 48 inches / currently on show at 5th Base Gallery at my 'Queen Of Neon' solo show, until April 6th This painting shows an energetic and vibrant neon filled rainy night in Shinjuku, Tokyo. I wanted to capture the idea of a moment passing, perhaps walking on the streets, or in a taxi rushing passed the huge blocks of neon colour of the buildings around. The idea of painting the imperfect, the blurry, the out of focus, the distorted views of the city, momentary glimpses. I also wanted to really add a sense of wet paint, drips, colours running in the rain, the feeling of rain pouring over you, water getting into your eyes, making you squint, using the paint to evoke those feelings, rivers of colour, Liquid LIghts.....

So here's my finished wall from Ayia Napa Street Art Festival ! So pleased with this overall, all freehand sketched and painted with no grids or guides, just pure painting! I had such an amazing time in Ayia Napa, beautiful place, stunning scenery and weather and friendly people made it a truly epic and unforgettable trip! Other superb artists that painted at the festival were TASSO , Dome , ETNIK, SER, Simoni Fontana and a massive thanks to Paparazzi and Sandra for all their constant a hard work getting us up and painting! Hopefully I'll be able to paint in Cyprus again soon! smile emoticon Geisha is based on my collaboration with : Ayumi LaNoire — in Ayia Napa

    'Temple Street' - Hong Kong

    'Temple Street' - Hong Kong

'Temple Street - Hong Kong' continuing my new series of new freehand paintings based on my recent trip to Hong Kong. I wanted to capture the multi colours and complexity of the higher areas of Hong Kong streets. I love all the lines and angles, air conditioners, signs, cables and complex geometry, fiddly and detailed, then with broader, colourful slabs of colour at street level, very beautiful! All freehand, from scratch as always in all my work!

    'Light and Shadows' - Tokyo

    'Light and Shadows' - Tokyo

'Light and Shadows - Tokyo' - Continuing on with my exploration of 'City Palettes'. I am fascinated by these scenes from my first trip to Japan. The colours are high contrast, sharp and very designed. Strong colours, with vivid application, accompanied by the deep and rich blue of the sky, something very 'Japanese / Tokyo' about this! I love the scene with the deep, dark shadows literally slicing the scene up into chunks of colour and light, non of the pastel palettes i found in Hong Kong here!

'Streets Of Colours' - latest digital painting

'Streets Of Colours' - latest digital painting

Streets Of Colour - Hong Kong' - Here's another Hong Kong inspired painting, beautiful iridescent colours, pools of light and color on the pavement, the streets flowing with colour, paint pools in the gutters, rain water mixing the shades and hues.... ready to be moved and manipulated, forming beautiful and vibrant scenes, almost like the palettes that build the city scenes we see.....
