Grevy's Zebra also known as 'Imperial Zebra' are mainly found in eastern parts of Africa. A magnificent animal, largest of its species and also most threatened partly due to hunting for its skin, which fetches a high price on the world market- it also suffers habitat destruction, human disturbances at water holes and competition with domestic grazing animals.
I find them irresistibly beautiful, and love to depict their unique personalities in my watercolor paintings. This one has been painted in a rich shade of purple highlighted with a golden brown. No black was used in this painting.Muzzle has been lightly done in a mix of these colors granulating beautifully.
The painting was created using Daniel Smith watercolor on the best quality Canson watercolor paper.
Please note that colors may slightly vary due to different screen settings. Viewing the artwork on multiple devices is recommended.
The artwork will ship unframed, flat packed in a cardboard box; accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity. You may contact me if you wish to have something painted for you exclusively.
