Artist's description:

This etching with aquatint is hand-printed using the chine collé technique on BFK printmaking paper and paper I handmade with abaca fiber. I created the image based on one of my daily black-and-white mandala drawings and was inspired by seeing whales off the pier in Pacifica, California.

Process: This is a fine art print created using traditional etching/aquatint techniques. Each print is hand-pulled by me using a Sturges etching press and printed on handmade paper so that slight variations may occur between prints. The print image is 3 x 3 inches on 11 x 15 inch BFK paper (100% cotton rag and neutral pH) and handmade abaca paper (primarily aqua-colored with small swirls of red and white fibers). This print is from an extremely limited edition of 3.

Materials used:

Charbonel etching ink, 250 g Rives BFK printmaking paper, handmade paper
