This print was inspired by our rural mailbox! In the early years of settlement in this area, the mailbox was the source of a great deal of information, personal contact, seed catalogues, mail-order supplies and gifts, and much more. Going to get the mail was an important event and sought-after in some families, depending on the weather and the distance. Nowadays, it contains mostly advertising material and the odd bill, reflecting how much rural culture and our communications more generally, have changed..
