In this painting, I recalled a trip to the Burren, the stark and beautiful lunar landscape you'll find in the West of Ireland, south of Galway.
It was of a particular time when sheets of rain battered my car and the limestone that surrounded me.
Visibility was poor and, as I was progressing downhill, the clouds suddenly opened to let rays of light pierce through and reveal the coast and the sea in a game of hide and seek.
Being there, you wouldn't help but sense the elemental force of the rain and the light and somehow feel part of it all as if you were able to touch the sky and feel very much alive.
