This work was produced for an exhibition called "100 Artists for World Aids Day" held at the Brighton Dome in December 2013. I love this piece with its bright, deep colour. We were given a pretty free reign in terms of what we could submit and when I was in the planning stage I had several ideas but in the end I approached it from quite an emotional place. AIDS has taken a massive toll on so many lives and continues to be a threat despite the development of anti-retroviral drugs. Although I am lucky enough not to know anyone who has died of this disease, I wanted to produce an image which spoke not only to those I love and some I have lost but also as a universal message. To simply say "You are in my heart".
