Original artwork description:

Y=f(x) is a painting based on and created with the help of a mathematical formula, more precisely of the function Y=1/x. The resulting curve is a hyperbola. The other principle/formula used is that of the Golden Section. It was interesting to experiment and I wanted to show how a mathematical expression could be aesthetic too. Mathematics is all around us and informs the whole being.

Materials used:

oil

About
To me a work of (visual) art is a kind of dream, a medium, which in its silent vagueness conveys what sometimes clear conceptual thinking cannot communicate and is otherwise inexpressible.... Read more
