Artist's description:

I photographed this yawning hippopotomus while shooting for my book, "Namibia". The image was taken in the Caprivi strip in northern Namibia. In reality this was a scary moment, hippos are very dangerous animals that kill more humans every year than any other animal. There powerful jaws and quick movements (despite their large size) make for fearsome creatures. However..returning to my studio I took a closer calmer look at the moment and I can swear this is more of a laughing hippo! I have this image as my desktop background at the office. It makes me smile every day. A postcard of this image is also stuck on the ceiling of my dentist - he says it makes people laugh when he tells them to "open wide"!
