The subject matter is based on photographs taken at Ladybank Woods, near Ladybank village in rural Fife, Scotland. I spent many hours, days and months photographing this small area of woodland, during all seasons. I just love the colours that can be found in the most (seemingly) mundane scenery and unlikely places. The light and shadows cast on the pathways make lovely patterns too, which was much of the interest in this particular image.
Original oil painting on a hand-built box canvas stretcher. The sides have pristine, white edges, and it is sealed using Gamvar archive quality picture varnish. I use only professional grade Old Holland and Michael Harding oils, for their high pigment content, and excellent light fastness.
