Artist's description:

Lately I have been taking advice from elders quiet regularly. Their stories and experience always seem to amaze me. The things that the previous generation experienced cannot be forgotten. They were brave soldiers, strong women, and loving parents. I get the most joy from seeing veterans of war. I make it a priority, no matter how beaten they seem, no matter how tired they or myself might be, I will always approach them and thank them for their service. It is those men and women who have mended and shaped the world into what it is today. They are the inspiration for this piece. Through their struggle, and their sacrifice, they shine brightly. no matter how wrinkly and distressed the surface might seem.
