Artist's description:

The fisherman is one of my favourite subjects. Through this work, I explored how the act of fishing has been adopted by the human race regardless of borders, cultures, languages and so on. Fishing is definitely one of the most primitive ways for providing food and I believe it must have been with humanity since we started to use fire.

By depicting a fisherman working at the bay on a chilly winter morning, I simply questioned myself what our naturalistic, simplistic life style we as humans have embraced from time immemorial is like, and what our hyper-technological contemporary society driven by endless fantasies is really like.

gesso, Japanese sumi ink, acrylic
