There is so much beauty and colour in nature in Winter. The branches may be bare of leaves but instead coated with rich, teal lichens and vibrant green mosses. Peeling bark and knots all create texture and detail. The branches twist and turn and curl around each other creating pattern and movement.
I wanted to capture all of these elements in this original acrylic ink on canvas. I have used acrylic inks on stretched canvas to give me a freedom of expression and to take advantage of their transparency and vibrancy. I have dripped, flicked, rubbed, poured and scraped the ink on the canvas. This painting is full of intricate details of texture, I have used a knife to scrape away the top layers of ink to reveal bare, twisting branches curling across the canvas and the texture of the mosses and lichens. I have tried to emulate a play of light within the depth of the woodland and used a mixture of greens, blues and purples to keep the tone throughout.
The inks I use are pigment inks making them permanent and waterproof with excellent lightfastness. They are stable on the canvas and do not need to be framed behind glass.
The canvas is 60cm x 60cm and 4cm in depth and the edges have been painted in a soft green that matches a green in the painting itself. It is ready to hang or be framed as you wish.
I will package it securely in a cardboard box with plenty of internal packaging.
