Artist's description:

This is a landscape painting of Rottingdean Mill, near Brighton, England, in the snow as the afternoon fades towards dusk. The Mill was erected in 1802 and through its life has fallen into disrepair several times as well as being struck by lightning. A curious incident was reported in the Sussex Weekly Advertiser of 7th June 1802 When digging the foundations, workmen uncovered the remains of an ancient warrior and sword. When they returned after a break, both items had gone and were never seen again! It last ground flour in 1881 I wanted to capture the bright crispness of the snow in contrast with the tar black of the snow against the backdrop of a beautiful sky. The painting is unframed
