Artist's description:

I painted this picture of Bushy House in Bushy Park in the winter of 2012, it was a great opportunity as I have wanted to do a snowscene for a long time and we don't often get snow in London. I am a bit obsessed by the house as I see it almost every day (whilst walking the dog ...) but I am even more interested now I have read Claire Tomalin's fascinating biography of Dora Jordan - the 18th Century actress/mistress of the prince regent who lived there with their many children. I like to see how the house changes in the light at different times of day, so it was really interesting to see the way the snow affected the quality of the light so that there were blues, pinks and lilacs showing in the view for the first time.
