Summer in Britain wouldn't be the same without the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament. I chose to use it as a topic to make a print about because I love to watch the faces of the people in the crowds almost as much as I love to watch the matches themselves.
I wanted to create a print that captured the joy and excitement seen in the faces of the people who had the privilege of experiencing a match live - many of whom want to capture the memory of it themselves using cameras or iphones which obscure their faces.
I've created 15 prints all of which are unique. First I carved out the lino then I used coloured Japanese tissue paper to create small blasts of colour which I then printed ontop of using the lino block (a technique called chine collé). On each print the colours are arranged in a different way.
A truely unique print created entirely by hand by me in my studio.
