I took this picture in the Navajo Tribal Park of Monument Valley, Arizona on a road trip through the South Western United States in September 2016. I had taken a number of 'classic' images of the sandstone buttes, but was looking for something that encompassed the majesty of the area with a slightly different viewpoint.
The wild horses found in the park lead you into the image and are framed wonderfully by the vast sandstone structures in the background, with the time of day the picture was taken heightening the wild and arid drama of the scene.
