This painting shows a side of Cornwall that the tourist rarely see.
The spray and thunder of the waves filling the air, muting and greying the colours and contrast. The actual site is non specific the painting created from memory and in reaction to standing on windswept cliffs in awe of the power of nature.
The painting was created using only three colours plus white, cadmium orange , dioxazine violet and phthalo green, all bright pure colours. In mixing them together beautiful rich muted colours and greys appear ,suggesting the myriad of ocean blues but without using a drop of blue paint.
