Original artwork description:

Painting: Oil on Canvas 123x93cm (48x36in). Stretched and unframed. Will ship in a crate, with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Hanging hardware not included. Edges are painted. Signed on the front of the canvas bottom right corner.

This work is a part of the artist’s Abandon series and was created during spring of 2020 while in lockdown in Belgrade. During this time, Genevieve observed that the wildflowers and grasses were left untamed in the city, as human activity slowed to a halt. This brought a little wildness and wilderness into the urban areas.

Wild at Heart captures the expressions of nature in an urban space, flashes of colour against solid dark buildings and the wild flowers, and forms that catch your eye.

Painted in the artist’s signature style, this painting was created using layers of glazes painted while wet. The first layer is a dark coloured ground and the artist then scrapes away the paint to reveal different forms and textures. This technique creates a kind of skeletal structure for the work giving the painting a three dimensional feel.

The combination of soft and bright colours against the dark background, along with the expressive brushwork, evoke feelings of passion, dance, and movement. As your eye follows the forms you are carried deeper into the mystery of this scene.

This work makes a bold statement from afar, but upon closer look you’ll become mesmerised by the layers of brushwork and detail.
