Artist's description:

Whernside is the highest mountain in Yorkshire and makes up one of the famours Yorkshire Three Peaks. There is a very popular track across the top of it coming from Ribblehead that is actually quite monotonous. For this print, I chose a less well-know route up Whernside from Dentdale, taking in another hill on the way. The best thing about this walk was that we also got to see the upland tarns (lakes) which most people doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks won't even know about! This print is inspired by the view of the peak of Whernside after having just passed the tarns.

I could see a little line of people bobbing along the side of Whernside, see if you can spot them in the picture! The faint horizontal band of blue/grey/green is actually Ingleborough in the far distance.

I love to print in a more painterly way and have inked up this plate all in one go, then run it through my printing press. I find it more expressive using this technique than the traditional reduction linocut or multi-plate method.

Hand printed onto Fabriano 50 fine art paper. Limited edition print of 10 printed in a mix of yellow, yellow-ochre, dark blue.purple and blue-grey oil-based printing ink. Each print differs slightly, due to the way each of them have been inked up. This listing is for the print in the picture, which is no. 4 in the edition.

This print is shipped in protective film in a sturdy wide cardboard roll. It is loosely rolled to spring flat when opened. Frame and mount not included.
