This oil painting is based on a recent trip to St Bees Beach in Cumbria. I remember the feeling vividly. A strong, fresh breeze competed with sparkling sunlight among fast-moving clouds. To express the way in which all senses seamlessly merged, I allowed the paint to drip and run before adding textured detail with a palette knife.
I wanted to best show off this painting which I completed on canvas board, so I hand made a floating box frame and affixed the canvas board to a raised platform in the centre of the frame. This allows a full view of every aspect of the painting. I hand painted the frame in white and prussian blue, so as to exemplify the prussian blue used in the painting and to bring optimal balance to the palette I chose for this special piece.
Varnished with UV resistant varnish. Strung, ready to hang and signed on the front and back.
A totally unique, one off piece with uniquely hand made and hand painted frame. Heart and soul were the highest contributing factors to this piece of work.
