Artwork description:

When Matthias, Mariliza's friend, came to visit us in Brighton, we went for a long walk. It was one of the first truly beautiful days of the year so we used this opportunity to wander off miles away. Tired, we picked a random bench facing the sea, to carry on talking and planning some trip that hasn't happened yet. I noticed a complex rhythm of repeated lines and colours from umbers to blueish greys in front of me. I adjusted my height to hide the horizon behind the handrail and create a straight line from the corner. Perspective played with everything that's below - breaking angles more and more to the point of the rail being reflected in the puddle. I decided to end my composition with the concrete below that works as a negative of the sky.
