Artist's description:

This painting is part of a series I began in 2004 and have decided to sell.

It is a commentary on the intensity and speed at which we live our lives. Hardly finding time to enjoy the here and now. To stop and smell the roses, or in this case see the lilies.

The title is from a poem which has always held great meaning for me by W H Davies called Leisure - the opening lines to which are,

"What is this life if full of care,
We have no time to stop and stare...."

These lilies are painted on a very large scale to allow the viewer to see their detail even as they rush through about their lives.
