Artist's description:

This 16 x 8 original oil painting was done en plein air on a chilly late September day during the elk rut. Autumn is my favorite time of year in Rocky Mountain National Park. I wait all year long for the aspen to turn golden, and this particular stand of aspen at West Horseshoe Park is so special to me. A few years ago, I arrived at this place during the early afternoon when the light was spectacular and the aspen color was at peak. I parked my car and took a hike up into this grove. It was almost magical, and reminded me of a passage from Tolkien's Lord of the Ring series where there was a perpetual golden forest called Lothlorien. This place has become Lothlorien to me.
