Artist's description:

My art practice involves short journeys to the mountain-side in Rachub on my bike. This is Brenda Chamberlain country (1912 – 1971, Welsh Artist and poet), where I like to draw the slate rock faces. In the summer I paint on canvas, in oils, in situ. At this time of year, the wind and rain mean that only paper, pencil, watercolour pans and a little water are all that can be stowed in my rucksack. Inspired by the working drawing by Frank Auerbach for “Primrose Hill”, the sketching journeys fill me with energy to take back to my studio. This painting has just arrived after exhibition in the Wells Art Contemporary Open Exhibition in Somerset. The trip to the opening night in the Wells City Museum was very energising.
