Artist's description:

This is a recently completed lino print of a Welsh black (dark brown) honey bee. I keep bees with a group of friends in the Brecon Beacons. At the moment we are trying to breed a pure strain of native Welsh bees that were once thought to have died out. They haven't got the same 'stripey jumper' as the usual honey bee. Most honey bees are now a cross with imported Italian bees.
Anyway, this was a tricky print! It is a double reduction print using two plates and about five different printing stages.
It is on a slightly textured Somerset Velvet acid free printing paper using oil based inks.
The image size is 25 x 25 cms on paper that is 40cm x 36cm
It will be wrapped in tissue, carefully rolled and packed in a wide tube for safe shipping.

Materials used:

Acid free Somerset Satin 260g paper and oil based relief ink.
