We Added New Countermeasures and What if Birds had Contrails? is an abstract and lyrical abstract painting in his Nature Chronicles - Seeing What is Outside from Inside Series. One day while trying to figure out how to keep squirrels from ravaging his bird feeders, he decided to add a red bungee cord underneath the dome and above the flat feeder; hence a new countermeasure. If birds had contrails? He watches the birds fly from branch, to ground, to tree, to feeder, to branch again - sometimes when its a busy morning, there will be a dozen or more Yellow Finches, Black Capped Chicadees, Juncos, Tufted Titmouse and others all positioning and working to get one of the few perches available. In his mind he sees a contrail, a vapor trail behind the brightest, most energetic of them - and lots of times the contrail ends up in his paintings.

Materials used:

Oil, oil stick, graphite, pencil
