This Linocut is of the water garden at the Arma Resort in Ubud, where I run a linocut retreat- upskilling workshop every January. When I saw this garden I was amazed at the size of the water lilies and how vibrant they were.
Most of my artwork is to do with stories and ideas, but every now and then I enjoy making an image that is purely observational, especially when I have an emotional reation to the subject matter. The black of the lino provides a contrast for the colours. The lino is printed in black and when it is dry the colours are hand-painted using archival inks (lightfast).
While I was in Ubud I did a drawing and took pjotos and then made the linocut when I got back to my studio in Australia. If ypu are interested in paticipating in my workshop in Bali got to www.ubudartworkshops.com for more information.
