Artist's description:

Watching is an experimental art piece created to music while blindfolded. By removing my ability to see the canvas it removes any preconceptions I may have as to what the piece should look like and allows me to focus on the music and the actions of the painting process. The Art is named after the track that inspired it from a Teesside based Hip Hop Group called Think Hip Hop. A video of me producing the work with the music playing can be viewed on Youtube at: . I create these paintings by setting up a small table in front of the canvas that has a selection of colours that I feel will work well together in what ever from they end up on the piece. the table gives me a point of reference so that I always know where the canvas is and a rough sense of which part of the canvas I am painting on, allowing me to distribute the paint across the canvas. the piece is made of a combination of spray paint, acrylic and wall paints and finished afterwards with a matt varnish. For me this piece is as much about its production as it is its conclusion, it forces me to feel the image and not rely on visual stimulation and is very much about the exploration of colour and technique.

Materials used:

spray paint, wall paint and acrylic.
