Artist's description:

This monotype print explores a local rock on West Beach in Watchet. The rock has become my muse, creating series of prints and drawing as I explore its form. The shifting colours throughout the day as the light changes reveals many various colours from the rock this form is made of, usually mostly Blue Lyas rock. Here the changing light as the sun was setting brought about a shift in the colour spectrum, revealing other worldy colours.

Back in the studio I experimented with layering many colours, exploring the gradients of colour, masking off areas to create the straight lines to form a stylised version of the rock, exploring the outline of its shape.

The layers of print have changed the paper underneath as it dried, becoming something other than a flat image.
