Hours of drawing are invested in each of my works so an ORIGINAL FRAMED 20" x 20"pen and ink drawing from my Gateways collection is an investment, not just an art purchase from Ron Jones. This piece "Wandering Eye" is exactly right. Most of my graphics work are all measured and precise until I found a drip on the cover board I used to protect this drawing while I worked on it. My drawing table is tilted slightly towards me so this solid black drip started to move slowly down the white cover board then ran into some previous ink marks I had applied to 'dab' my Rapidograph* nib. The drop changed direction. POOF!!! My eyes wandered or wondered into an aspect of my ink creativity that I had used once before in an earlier work titled Erratic Drip.
I obtained a straw and decided to purposefully and symmetrically apply droplets of ink in a circular pattern and then used the straw to blow the erratic images. I've seen this technique in some Oriental ink work and it worked wonders for this piece.
